This is the story of Cindy’s family home.
A few years ago, Cindy and her family were searching for a place they could shape into a home for their children. While browsing online, she came across Crush.
She wanted to work with someone with experience in Europe, particularly Italy and France. As a collector of French Neoclassical pieces and a devoted admirer of traditional French gardens, she felt confident that we would understand the elegance and character she envisioned for her home.
From the start, the process was steady, collaborative, and deeply engaging. Every two weeks, we met to review ideas, refine the design, and plan the next steps.
We worked together for three years and not because of setbacks, but because Cindy’s family wanted to craft something truly magical for their children and extended family. Throughout that time, we faced shifting Council controls, neighbour objections, a challenging easement across the front of the property, and the presence of a magnificent jacaranda tree that needed thoughtful protection.
None of it derailed the project. Each challenge was navigated with clarity, strategy, and a deep understanding of what mattered.
In the end, the team achieved far more than Cindy imagined possible:
– Approval for additional internal floor space ratio
– A DA secured in just six months for more than 400 sqm of internal area
– Permission to build to the maximum height
– A garage positioned carefully near the protected jacaranda
And even after obtaining the DA, the team continued refining the design, securing two further modifications that allowed the home to expand into a four-storey residence.
The final home is everything Cindy hoped for, elegant, generous, and deeply personal. A place shaped with remarkable care, honouring both her family’s vision and her lifelong passion for French design.
